Debate on the Fashion and Accessories sector published in the daily newspaper Expansion on 29th June 2007. The participants in this third sector meeting were: Miguel Otero, General Manager of the Leading Brands of Spain Forum; Antonio Abril, Director and Secretary of the Board of Directors of Inditex; Covadonga O’Shea, President of Isem; Isak Halfon, Mango’s Expansion Director; José María Hernando, Director of the Consumer Goods Division at ICEX; Lucía Cordeiro, Manager of the Spanish Fashion Designers’ Association; Luis Gestal, Director of Institutional Relations at Caramelo; Gonzalo Brujo, Managing Director of Interbrand Spain; Ricardo Fisas, Chairman of Natura Bissé; and Ignacio Sierra, Cortefiel’s Corporate Area Director.

Experts agree that Spain has come late to the strategy of finding a niche in the world of design, fashion and innovation, but in recent years this process has been accelerated thanks to the internationalisation of brands such as Zara, Mango, Cortefiel and Caramelo. Over the past few years, Spain has become a world reference in a sector traditionally associated with other countries around us.
